How hot is Venus?
The surface of Venus is around 464 °C (737 K, 867 °F), which is hot enough to melt lead. Venus has a very thick atmosphere made mostly of carbon dioxide (CO2) which traps heat. This is actually a runaway greenhouse effect and it's why the planet is so hot. It's the hottest planet is the Solar System; the average surface temperature on Venus is higher than that of Mercury.
