How many gas giant planets are there?
Short answer: In our Solar System, there are four gas giants.
Long answer: The four gas giant planets in our Solar System are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Sometimes you'll see them categorized as two gas giants (Jupiter and Saturn) and two "ice giants" (Uranus and Neptune).
There are many, many more gas giants in other solar systems throughout the Milky Way galaxy. Astronomers have found thousands so far. Presumably other galaxies also have solar systems with planets, making an unimaginably large number of gas giants in the whole Universe.
